**There is a $249 participation fee for each team member of each semifinalist team. Semifinalist teams will be announced June 15 and the payment will be accepted after that date.

For Semifinalists:

Cleantech Open Academy — A weekend-long training camp of workshops July 23-25 designed to address every aspect of the business creation process, including financial and legal issues, business plan writing, funding presentations, marketing, and sustainability

    • One-on-one mentoring by industry leaders
    • Business Clinics — Access to specialists in financial planning, corporate structure, intellectual property, marketing, PR, sustainability, and fundraising
    • Mock Judging — Practice your pitch to an expert panel with live feedback
    • Judges' feedback on your business plan and presentation
    • Inclusion in Cleantech Open Alumni Directory
    • Cleantech networking events
    • Lifetime membership in the Cleantech Open Alumni network

Regional and National Prize Package:

    Regional finalists receive a prize package worth $30,000 in cash and services. One regional winner receives an additional $20,000 in cash and services. Finally, one national winner receives a $250,000 prize package of investment and additional services.

    The 2009 competition saw over 250 entries across three regions whittled down to 72 semifinalists teams. Those teams participated in the full Training Program. Twelve teams were named as finalists and one team became the National Winner.


    Who We Are
    The Cleantech Open is a catalyst for clean tech innovation across six categories: Air, Water, Waste, Energy Efficiency, Green Building, Renewable Energy, Smart Power and Storage, and Transportation. We are the world's largest small business incubator and cleantech competition for clean and green startups.  

    The Cleantech Open has worked with MIT's Ignite Clean Energy/Cleantech Open Northeast by assisting companies in raising nearly $240M in funding and creating hundreds of jobs.  

    For the first time, the competition will be available to entrepreneurs in the North Central region: Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.  We unite the public and private sectors in a shared vision of making America's cleantech sector a thriving economic engine. Past alumni successes include Andura Technologies, Cool Earth Solar, EcoFactor, and GreenVolts.
